I used to run a female showcase night called ‘Future Divas’ as I have a big soft spot for a female performer. Having apparently ‘spammed’ her dad one artist mailed me back to just send me some music; it was a very special woman by the name of Maya Jane Coles. At that time at 22 an already super talented producer who had been honing her craft for many years and with some rather impressive accomplishments that she had already garnered off her own back.
She never played at Future Divas as I disbanded the night to spend more time looking after her! Funny how life works out, but I think it was one of my best ever decisions…
